The housebuilder has purchased 35 acres for the Eastbrook Village project, which received planning permission last February.
The site off Poverty Lane is part of a wider, 68-acre project between Countryside and Persimmon, which has planning permission for up to 841 homes and a later-living housing scheme.
Planning permission for the project was granted in February last year
There will also be 53 homes available for private rent and 222 for open market sale. Countryside’s scheme also includes an assisted living facility for those 55 and older.
The first homes are expected to be finished around the end of this year.
The developer is contributing more than £3.2m towards the community, which will largely go towards expanding Summerhill Primary School.
“It’s fantastic news that the purchase is done enabling us to crack on with building much-needed new homes in Maghull, an area that’s been earmarked for housing for many years by the council,” said Countryside’s managing director for Merseyside and Cheshire West, Mark Hadfield.
“But we’ll be doing much more than simply providing housing, investing millions of pounds in wider benefits for the local community, ensuring that the benefits of the development are as far-reaching as possible.”
